SANTA BARBARA, CA – With a shared drive of combining strengths to better serve our clients, 19six Architects is excited to announce that Ehlen Spiess & Haight Structural Engineers (ESHSE) has joined forces with our team. Prior to this union, our roots have long been intertwined beginning with ESHSE’s founder Peter Ehlen working within our architectural firm before establishing Peter W. Ehlen & Associates in 1966. From 1966 to present day, 19six Architects and Ehlen Spiess & Haight have worked on a multitude of projects, most notably the Lompoc Aquatic Center, Santa Maria-Bonita School District’s New Jimenez Elementary School Campus, The New Vic Theater Renovation, Santa Barbara’s Airport Terminal Expansion, and most recently the New Clinicas del Camino Real Medical Office.

“I’ve worked with the Ehlen Spiess & Haight team for almost 20 years.  I’ve always appreciated their creative, collaborative, problem-solving approach.  The ESHSE team has always been an integral part of the 19six team. When the opportunity arose for the two firms to join forces it was a natural, seamless fit.  Because the two firms have had such a rich, long-standing history together, when we started kicking around the idea, we could all see very quickly that it was a perfect fit and just made sense to all be under one roof to better serve our clients.  I’m extremely excited to add the talents of the ESHSE team to 19six to help integrate the structural engineering even more into our projects.”
– Alan Kroeker, President of 19six Architects

Since its inception, ESHSE has participated in the design of educational, healthcare, governmental, commercial, industrial, and historic preservation projects on the Central Coast and across California. As Structural Engineers they have been applauded for their collaboration and expertise. Jeff Haight and Mark Crittenden join 19six as Principal Structural Engineers and bring along with them their talented team.

“Joining 19six is a great opportunity to provide integrated structural engineering services as a part of a cross-disciplinary team. 19six has always been great to work with and we look forward to continuing to collaborate on healthcare, education, and civic projects as one united team here on the Central Coast and throughout California.”
– Jeff Haight, Principal Structural Engineer

“Over the years I have appreciated the mutual respect our firms have had for each other’s work, professional attitude, and attention to detail. I look forward to this new chapter to further blend our expertise and create a dynamic team providing more value to our clients.”
– Mark Crittenden, Principal Structural Engineer
