New Construction
In July of 2014, the Hueneme Elementary School Board commissioned 19six Architects to prepare plans for two new 2-story modular buildings with modular elevators at two of their campuses. Each building consists of ten (10) 24’ x 40’ classrooms, student restrooms, staff restroom, staff offices, a work room and teachers’ lounge. Site work included modifications to parking lots to meet current accessibility requirements and student drop off needs. The work was performed by a modular manufacturer and separate site contractor, each as part of a lease lease-back bid process. The two contractors’ work also included preparing the pads, setting the modular buildings, site concrete, miscellaneous site work, electrical and telecommunications systems, water utility upgrades and a new electrical service to feed the campus of Art Haycox Elementary School.
In approximately 13 months, The HESD/19six/AMS/Lundgren Management Team managed to design, obtain DSA approval, and construct two new 2-story modular buildings. This process would normally take a minimum of 18 months.
