Federico Cortez, Architect
Promotion to K-12 Market Sector Leader
Federico joined 19six Architects in June of 2005 after graduating from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is a vital leader in the k-12 design team.

Over the course of his career, Federico has progressively deepened his involvement in client relations and taken a more prominent role in leading project pursuits. This growth is often attributed to his expanding expertise and experience. He offers tenets in establishing trust with his clients and providing valuable insights into their projects.
A key aspect of Federico’s professional journey is expanding his personal network within the industry. Networking plays a pivotal role with 19six, and over the years, he has actively engaged in various opportunities to connect with contractors and construction management companies. He frequently works closely with contractors and construction managers, emphasizing the importance of building strong, positive relationships with these partners.
Over the last eighteen years, Federico has worked on various projects within the K-12 market sector. In the last three years, he has progressed from managing projects to working with clients. His current clients include Santa Maria-Bonita School District, Guadalupe Union School District, Orcutt Union School District, and Lompoc Unified School District, amongst others. He is also part of 19six’s leadership group and is working with others on producing the company’s project development standards for project delivery. He takes great pride in mentoring upcoming project managers and is currently an NCARB AXP supervisor for a number of young aspiring architects.
Nick Graves, Architect
Promotion to K-12 Associate Market Sector Leader
Nick Graves joined 19six Architects in 2018 and has since flourished as an integral part of the K-12 design team.

Nick has spent the last decade in San Luis Obispo, developing his skills in architecture. He gained tremendous experience as a Project Manager preparing specifications, coordinating drawings, and supervising construction administration while building a relationship with the Division of State Architect. Nick became a licensed Architect in November of 2022 and holds a Professional Certification in Construction Management from San Diego State.
Nick grew up fascinated by technical drawings and doing hands-on work with anything mechanical before deciding to pursue architecture in high school. He started his career working in construction while studying Architectural Technology at Cuesta College. Nick currently serves as a board member on the Construction Board of Appeals for the City of San Luis Obispo and a licensure mentor for 19six’s emerging professionals.
Bringing enthusiasm and innovation to every educational project he works on with 19six, Nick leads teams on technically challenging and complex projects, focusing on creating functional and inspiring environments. He has led numerous successful undertakings with the 19six K-12 studio, most notably with Lucia Mar Unified School District, including projects at Judkins Middle School, Grover Heights Elementary School, Nipomo High School, and Fairgrove Elementary School.
