Since 1982, The American Institute of architects, California Council has celebrated outstanding architecture through the AIACC Design Awards Program. Held each Spring, the Design Awards program recognizes achievements in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Urban Design, Small Projects as well as the 25-Year Award and Maybeck Award. The awards are juried by a distinguished group of architects and members of the architectural profession.

School administrators and others interested in educational facilities look to the August Educational Interiors Showcase issue and the November Architectural Portfolio as guides to award-winning ideas and innovations for America’s schools and universities. Honored projects are published in these annual design issues and also appear on SchoolDesigns.com in the “Find a Project” database of designs.

Each year the League of California Cities honors outstanding work in member cities across the state through the League Partner-sponsored Helen Putnam Awards for Excellence. The award recognizes the successes of California cities as demonstrated by beneficial innovations, resourceful efficiencies, improved public service, and overall enhanced public trust and support.
From 2002 through 2009, awards were made to recognize and reward an individual, group or organization that has made a worthwhile contribution to the betterment of the environment or ecology of San Luis Obispo County.
