College of the Desert Stagecraft Shop

The stagecraft shop directly supports arts functions held on campus. The building is located behind the existing theatre to provide direct access to the backstage area and the stage entrance. This a custom designed pre-manufactured metal building. This building illustrates that standards in modular building have improved over time allowing us to have limitless design capabilities with precision engineering and ease of construction. The interior space includes scenery workshop with a large roll up door for access, full costume shop with garment conveyors to increase the storage capacity and improved access, dressing rooms with changing facilities and music/vocal pre-manufactured sound proof practice rooms. The exterior canopy shade structure was site built and added to provide shaded walkways leading to these rooms.
