For years the hospital campus coffee stand was located outside near the parking garage in a tent like structure. This coffee stand was independently owned and operated by an outside source. The hospital saw an opportunity to expand their retail and capture those sales by installing a Starbucks store within their building and operated by their staff. The hospital reached out to Starbucks, 19six Architects and Healthcare Design and Construction to make this goal a reality. The store opened on November 10, 2015 and has reportedly shattered all sales goals and expectations. The store is located right off of the main hospital entrance lobby and is highly visible to staff and visitors. Prior to the installation of the Starbucks store, the visitors were very vocal about the hospital not having a coffee stand (not knowing or seeing the one outside). This hospital is now well caffeinated, wide awake and capturing the sales they once saw from a distance.
